Mega Man Universe gameplay trailer features The Megas
Capcom has revealed the first glimpse of Mega Man Universe, a traditional platformer that will allow players to choose from alternate protagonists, such as Street Fighter's Ryu and Arthur from Ghosts'n Goblins. The movie posted to Joystiq features "The Message from Dr. Light" by the LA-based band The Megas.

Super Mario Collection to include soundtrack album
Nintendo will be releasing Super Mario Collection for Wii this October in Japan, a reported revival of Super Mario All-Stars for the Super Nintendo. A Special Pack bundle will include an art book and soundtrack CD featuring music from the series.

Video of PixelJunk Eden Encore live DJ set in Osaka
A five-minute video of Baiyon, PixelJunk Eden's art and music director, performing live in Osaka has been uploaded to YouTube. The clip features music from the Playstation Network title PixelJunk Eden Encore. Baiyon is currently collaborating with Q-Games on a visualizer for the Playstation 3 titled PixelJunk Lifelike, which is expected to be unveiled around the time of the Tokyo Game Show later this month.

Tactics Ogre soundtrack album announced
Square Enix Japan has opened an official webpage for an upcoming four-disc album for Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together. Three discs will cover the updated arrangements for the PSP release, while a bonus disc contains source material from the Super Famicom. Music is composed by Hitoshi Sakimoto and Masaharu Iwata of Ogre Battle and Final Fantasy Tactics. The album will be released November 10 in Japan.

Michiko Naruke's Wild Arms and Wonderful Worlds
Composer Michiko Naruke's score for the original Playstation title Wild Arms was an innovation in its time, making use of instrumental samples that conjured up the Wild West films of Sergio Leone. This September, Naruke's music from Wild Arms 2 will be performed by the Kanagawa Philharmonic Orchestra.

SaGa 3 coming to the Nintendo DS
Squaresoft Game Boy RPG SaGa 3 will be receiving a Nintendo DS remake later this year, released as SaGa 3: Jikuu no Hasha: Shadow or Light. The original, released in English regions as Final Fantasy Legend III, includes music by composers Ryuji Sasai and Chihiro Fujioka.

Team Entertainment plans Persona 3 Portable Voice Mix Arrange
Record label Team Entertainment announced that it will be publishing a remix album of music from Persona 3 Portable containing samples from the game's voice acting. Music is being arranged by guest composers Shinji Hosoe of Super Sweep and Nobuyoshi Sano of Ridge Racer. The album will be on sale November 3 in Japan.

Eorzea ― The Making of a Realm (Uematsu interview)
Square Enix's Final Fantasy XIV YouTube channel has uploaded an interview with the MMO's music composer Nobuo Uematsu, subtitled in English. The video displays some of the instruments in the musician's studio, and relates some of the challenges involved in composing the full score for the game. The soundtrack album, which will be released in two separate sets, is due out September 29 in Japan.

Sega has opened a dedicated website for titles that will be on display in some form at the Tokyo Game Show. Promotional movies are currently online for Vanquish (PS3, X360), Virtual On Force (X360), Sonic Colors (NDS, Wii), Phantasy Star Portable 2 Infinity (PSP), Black Panther Yakuza (PSP), Shining Hearts (PSP), and K-On After School Live (PSP).

Super Meat Boy due out October 20 on XBLA
Today it was announced that 2D puzzle action title Super Meat Boy will be premiering on Xbox Live Arcade on October 20. At some point the game will also be headed to the PC and WiiWare. Music for the independent title is composed and arranged by Danny B. of Canabalt.

Trio the DS 10 members form Detune, announce Korg M01
Trio the DS 10, a band of game composers that helped design the Korg DS-10 software, have formed their own company called Detune. Ridge Racer's Nobuyoshi Sano, Chrono Trigger's Yasunori Mitsuda and The Black Mages' Michio Okamiya demoed a new product for the Nintendo DS last night in Shinjuku called the Korg M01. The latest Korg software is due out in late 2010 in Japan.

Square Enix Battle Tracks site opens
Square Enix has opened an official website for the Square Enix Battle Tracks music compilation series. Volumes 2 and 3 will be released on September 15, just in time for the Tokyo Game Show. Volume 2 will include themes from Final Fantasy VII, Tobal 2, Einhander, Front Mission 2, Front Mission Alternative and Soukaigi, among others.

Red Dead Redemption soundtrack now at Rockstar Warehouse
The Red Dead Redemption Original Soundtrack CD is now available for purchase through the online Rockstar Warehouse. The CD is priced at $10, plus shipping and handling. Music is composed by Bill Elm and Woody Jackson, along with several singer-songwriters, and produced by David Holmes. A limited edition red-vinyl LP release will be coming in September.

Game-inspired concert "Hideo" coming to Berkeley
Piano arranger Germanseabass, whose Cave Story and World of Goo medleys have taken the web by storm, wrote to inform us of a game-inspired concert taking place Saturday, October 16 at the University of California at Berkeley. Hideo - A Theatrical Concert of Music from Japanese Animation & Video Games - will include selections from Final Fantasy IV, Final Fantasy VI, Ico and the Mega Man series. According to the show notes, the performers are 100% enthusiasts of games and anime.
